I did a thing.
I ordered a shirt
and paid way too much for it.
It's only a t-shirt,
and in my mind that means it shouldn't cost more than ten bucks.
This cost much more than that.
But I bought it anyway.
The email today said that it's on its way.
It cost another $6.99 for shipping.
I hate paying for shipping.
But I bought it anyway.
There's a good chance I could get in trouble for wearing it to school.
Or even just out in public.
That's why I hesitated when I saw it.
But I bought it anyway.
I'm not a rebel.
I hate conflict.
I avoid it like the plague.
But I bought it anyway.
It made me laugh.
It made me feel I had to have it.
It made a point that needed to be made.
So, I bought it anyway.
Great shirt. I have a "I read banned books" tote bag. I like the way you set up the poem and your title.
ReplyDelete"It made a point that needed to be made" - absolutely!
I love the shirt and your slice. Your repeating line made me feel the tension you felt over your purchase. Wear it well!
ReplyDeleteLove the format and the way you built up the anticipation for the end-totally worth it! The repetition of "I bought it anyway" really worked well! Hope you write about what happens when you get it!
ReplyDeleteThis is cute! I'm a tshirt snob too, and would probably buy (and wear!!) this. I, too, hate paying for shipping, and also believe a tshirt should cost $10 LOL. Happy wearing!
